Overcome Decision Paralysis

Do you ever find yourself with a ton of ideas but you don’t know where to start?

Sometimes I struggle with where to focus my creative energy, for me this can often cause a severe case of inertia. Here are two tips to help you gain momentum with your work.

Stop waiting for answers

You don’t know what you don’t know. Sometimes it can be tempting to get caught up researching and looking for answers before getting started. Nobody wants to waste their time doing the wrong thing, as a result you may have a tendency to wait and see before taking any action. The time to take action is and always was; yesterday. More often than not you will not know the answers until you’ve been on the journey.

‘And’ not ‘Or’

Sometimes you might have two great ideas and not be able to choose which one deserves your time and attention. Listening to a Gary Vaynerchuk podcast recently he said ‘We live in a world of and not or.’ That is to say do both! The time you’re wasting not taking action on either of the ideas could instead be used to work on both simultaneously. By quickly trialing both ideas you’ll soon be able to identify which is better and then focus your efforts

You will never make progress waiting for the right time or the perfect circumstances. Stop making excuses and get to work. Road test your ideas and make decisions as you go. User test and allow your experience of doing to guide you.

I hope this helps!
