“What started as a small idea, quickly became a year long adventure.”
The idea was simple. Each weekend my wife and I would ‘travel’ to a different country and immerse ourselves in the food, movies, music and sometimes dress codes of the country. We learned heaps, ate ourselves silly, laughed lots, danced and entertain ourselves every weekend of lockdown. Our little home vacation.
We shared our cooking and experiences with friends and family on social media. There was an overwhelmingly positive response. Which further encouraged us to push ourselves and our limits, to discover and explore more challenging and unknown cuisines and recipes. We cooked a total of 29 countries cuisines and over 100 different dishes. Opening our eyes and taste buds to a whole world of new experiences.
One of the great things about the concept is that cooking a single cuisine for a whole weekend allows you to use all of the unusual and exotic ingredients whilst they’re fresh. Saving you unnecessary food waste and money.
With the help of food bloggers who share their recipes online we were able to travel the world and entertain ourselves through taste.
Now i’m sharing all the recipes we cooked in the form of traditional recipe books. Each chapter is a country and features the recipes we cooked during our “visit.” Some of the recipes have been slightly edited to reflect our experience but I have included credits to the original sources and thank them all for their generosity.
To get the full experience, dress up, find a playlist, find a YouTube walking tour , pour a drink, do whatever it takes to transport yourself and get cooking. We discovered it really is possible to enjoy new experiences without leaving your home.
I hope you enjoy the experience too!
